When All You Have Is A Table

March 24, 2026 by GSENKER

GW Pens table setup at the Philly Pen Show

In the Philadelphia Pen Show, in January, some exhibitors pay extra to get tables along the wall. John Greco of GW Pens went with the cheapest table available — one out in the middle of the room, same basic footprint as almost everyone else.

Then he made it the most visible table at the show.

A Tabletop Rig That Changed The Table

Greco uses an overhead tabletop banner rig that sits above the table and gives his space a clear identity from across the room. In a show full of trays, cases, and tabletop displays, that was enough to make his table stand out.

The banner frame came from Best Of Signs, sold as a Table Top Banner Half Display.

The Lights

The lighting is his own addition. He uses a simple LED shop light and a bit of chain, measured so the light sits inside the banner rather than hanging down, where it would shine in people’s faces.

It lights the table, keeps the setup contained, and helps the whole thing read cleanly.

No Problems With Show Management

According to Greco, he uses this setup at all the shows he goes to. He says management has never given him a hard time about it, and he’s seen other pen makers use similar tabletop banner setups at some of the larger shows as well.
