Bunnell, Florida-based Premier Food Trucks says it has completed its 90th custom mobile kitchen for Cousins Maine Lobster, part of what the manufacturer is calling a run of national milestones that includes builds for Subway, Jamba Juice and Auntie Anne’s, plus a converted city bus turned into a mobile farmers market for Indianapolis health system Eskenazi Health, according to a company release.
The bigger news is on the power side: Premier has rolled out a fully integrated battery-powered kitchen system designed to replace gas generators entirely, following a January 2026 unveiling of the underlying technology. President Jordan Schild said the goal is to “give our operators every competitive advantage on the street,” adding the company is “setting” industry trends rather than following them. The system is built to run full commercial kitchen equipment while cutting noise, fuel costs and emissions — opening up indoor venues, noise-restricted neighborhoods and private events that generator-dependent trucks can’t easily serve.
Why it matters: A battery system isn’t just a green upgrade — it’s a market-access play. Every noise ordinance, indoor-venue rule or urban core that bans open generators is currently off-limits to a conventional truck; strip the generator out and that inventory of bookable locations gets b0igger. Pair that with Cousins Maine Lobster’s 90-unit fleet built by one manufacturer and you can see the other half of the story: franchise brands are increasingly choosing mobile-first expansion over new leases, and the builders who can deliver at that volume — with next-generation power systems baked in — are the ones capturing the growth.
